The World (Tarot Tales)

The world changed, transformed itself, into an entirely new configuration once each year. Only that which were within enclosures—buildings, walled towns or villages—stayed the same. But without, once the Change finished, it was all different.

Knowing the Change was due to occur at sunset, three villagers rushed through the market stalls. They then hurried to make it back to their village as the sun lowered in the west.

Would they make it back in time? Or would they be caught out in the open, not knowing where they would find themselves when the Change was over, estranged from their homes, their families, their friends, perhaps forever.

Word for Today: Maladroit — Herbert had been a maladroit boy, stumbling and bumbling his way through childhood, until he grew into the graceful Olympian figure skater he is today.
