Born and bred in Minneapolis, I now reside in New England with my feline family -- Annie, Sheena and Gandalf -- and with my Muse, Ba'alat.
It was not until I had reached a Certain Age that my Muse announced her presence. For six months she nagged, pleaded and berated until I finally acquiesced. Fragments of plot, snippets of dialogue and quirks of personality began to fill my head. I no sooner got one idea down, when another demanded my attention.
My Muse and I now hold frequent conversations - some of sweeping vistas encompassing paragraphs and pages, some of a spare word or two amid quiet reflection. Whether she is loquacious or reticent, I now cherish her presence and am left bereft whenever she is absent.
